About Burnett County Historical Society

The Burnett County Historical Society is a non-stock, non profit corporation organized under Chapter 181 and section 44.03 of the Wisconsin Statutes with 501-C-3 status. The organization is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by the membership according to the By-Laws of the organization. BCHS was founded in 1945 and incorporated in the early 1979. In 1988 the Society assumed management of Forts Folle Avoine Historical Park.

Our Vision: 
We envision a public that is aware of, excited by and values the diverse history of Burnett County

Our Mission:
The Burnett County Historical Society provides educational opportunities to the public by researching, preserving, and teaching the history of Burnett County 

In support of our mission BCHS:
  • Conducts Living History tours to Historic Fur Trade Posts and Ojibwe Indian Village
  • Provides educational programs for schools
  • Organizes Fur Trade and Native American Displays
  • Creates Exhibits that Interpret Burnett County History
  • Operates a History Research Library
  • Stores historical records and artifacts from Burnett County

Current goals of the Burnett County Historical Society include:
  • Facilitate/enhance/expand educational opportunities related to the history of Burnett County and the Fur Trade era
  • Develop and maintain key partnerships
  • Establish and maintain financial stability to support our mission

Burnett County Historical Society - Memberships

Your membership helps support not only the reconstructed fur-trade era's Forts Folle Avoine Historical Park, but also the Harris Palmer Research Library, the Karlsborg School, Logging Museum, Blacksmith Shop, Exhibits, and much more.
General & Family Memberships
Members receive Unlimited General Admission which includes Tours and the Rendezvous Event. Members also received the newsletter 3 times each year, free or reduced admission to many of our special events and programs, and the knowledge that you are supporting a great cause!  Memberships are Tax Deductible to the extent allowable by Law. ​
Individual - $25.00
  • Membership for one adult
  • Unlimited General Admission
  • 10% discount on Gift Shop purchases
  • Membership Newsletter, three per year
  • One vote at the Annual Membership meeting
​Couples - $50.00
  • Membership for two adults
  • Unlimited General Admission
  • Two extra General Admission tickets

Seniors(65+)/College Student/Military(active or veterans) $20.00
  • Membership for one adult (ID required)
  • Unlimited General Admission

Family - $50.00
  • Membership for two adults and four children age 6-17 (children 5 and under are free)
  • Unlimited General Admission

Family Plus - $75.00
All the benefits of the Family membership plus:
  • Four extra General Admission tickets

Supporting Memberships

Forts Folle Avoine Historical Park is on the National Register of Historic Places. Travel Green Wisconsin recognizes tourism related businesses that are reducing their environmental impact through operational and other improvements.  BCHS is a member of the Wisconsin Historical Society.
