Forts Folle Avoine Historical
Park opens for the summer season Memorial Weekend. Opening Weekend
features tours of the historic site, the Annual Garden Club plant
sale, a Spring Encampment for fur trade campers, and a Wild Rice
Pancake Breakfast on Sunday. The Gift Shop will be open with a
new look and our new Folle Avoine Fur Trade Exhibit will be on
display in the Great Room.

Participate in a “working fur post” atmosphere
in and around the NW Co and XY posts, an active Ojibwe village,
and a nearby renactors camp where additional skills of the
period will be demonstrated.

At The Fort

Dine in the elegance of the Visitor
Center Great Room at our annual themed dinner featuring fine food
and wines from around the world. The 2008 dinner will feature
'The Italian Cuisine of Tuscany', accompanied by candlelight and
dinner music. There will be music on the deck during the wine
tasting. Seating is limited, and reservations are required. $40.00

Annual Golf Tournament

Join us for a
fun day of golf, with four-person teams playing a scramble golf
game! You may form your own team or sign up to play with surprise
partners. Any level of skill is accepted, and participants may
choose to wear creative golf attire or play with an unusual set
of clubs. The grand prize is determined by who has the most fun.
Proceeds from this fund-raising event are earmarked for the Historic

The
Great Folle Avoine Fur Trade Rendezvous

Over 150 fur trade camps
fill Sayer's Field & Trader's Row, representing the many
unique characters that gathered after a winter of trapping to
trade goods, stories and a good time. Enjoy demonstrations of
period skills, black powder, archery and tomahawk competitions
and food preparation. Visit with the participants to learn the
history of this important era of commerce and exploration in
North America.

The
Forts BBQ Fest
Saturday

Join us for a great
summer day of excellent food, refreshments and music! Local restaurants
compete for votes to win the "Best" trophy in ribs,
chicken, and pulled pork. Crafters, artists and our gift shop
provide shopping fun. This annual special event brings enjoyment
to all!
The BBQ Fest includes craft booths, live demonstrations,
a beverage tent, and music. Admission to the BBQ Fest is free.
Tickets may be purchased and used at any of the food vendors.
Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone interested in participating
in this event as a vendor may call 715-866-8890 for information
on how to enter. The regular tour schedule is also offered during
BBQ Fest.

is an informal gathering of friends, traders, and rendezvous campers.
It’s a good opportunity to learn about 19th Century clothing
and traditions.

Christmas
at the Fort

The Visitor Center
is brought to its full holiday grandeur at the 10th Annual Christmas
at the Fort. Frosty fun outdoors includes sleigh rides, story
telling in the teepee, and outside refreshments to enjoy around
the bonfire. Mr. & Mrs. Santa greet families in the Karlsborg
Schoolhouse, where children can send their Christmas list to the
North Pole, make decorations for trees, or have a keepsake photo
with Santa. The Visitor Center is draped in pine garlands and
twinkling lights. Visitors can enjoy a bowl of wild rice soup
as they listen to Christmas music. You can bid on items at a Silent
Auction, or enter the raffle for a fully decorated tree donated
by one of the local Lions' Clubs. The Gift Shop is fully stocked
for unique Christmas shopping, and the Elves' Store is the place
for children to hone their shopping skills. Make Christmas at
the For part of you family holiday tradition.

Wild
Rice Pancake Breakfasts
Due to popular demand,
two more pancake breakfasts have been added to the schedule. It's
a wonderful "after church" activity, a good place to
meet your neighbors or bring your weekednd guests. Stay after
breakfast to see the exhibits, take a tour, or stop in the Gift
Shop.
